from jazz hands to #jazzhands
Zina Mercil literally began her life as a dancer. Her Mom still likes to tell the story of how she could dance before she could walk, hoisting herself up on the bars of her crib to sway to the music. She began performing in dance when she was 5 years old, which eventually evolved professionally to musical theater, and being fortunate enough to do JAZZ HANDS as a living. After her life-altering medical setback began in 2011, Zina slowly re-evolved her passion for performing into a passion of using movement and the body to guide others in mind/body healing. Zina began spreading the joy of JAZZ HANDS in everyday life ... because they're not just for musicals (if you don't believe her, go ahead and try doing some while no one is looking!).
So now #JAZZHANDS has become Zina's motto - for joy, healing, and humor in the face of great suffering, grief, and loss. From who she was to who she is #JAZZHANDS have been there, because though we lose a lot of ourselves during transitions and transformations, some of ourselves just gets a upgrade! So go ahead, rock out some #JAZZHANDS for your own inspired transformation!
(Zina is a proud member of Actor's Equity Association (AEA). Full theater/film/modeling resume available upon request.)

"How much worse is it then for the lone man, the lone woman, stricken by a private calamity?
‘No one knows I’m sick.’
‘No one knows I’ve lost my last real friend.’
‘No one knows I’ve done something wrong.’
Imagine the isolation. Now you see the world as through a window. On one side of the glass: happy, untroubled people, and on the other side: you."
